3. Important Notes for Rx and other lens service
3.1 TET for plus power (Trim edge to the thinnest)
 
3.1.1 Unless special thickness is requested by the customer, our lab will trim all the plus power lens edge to the thinnest, the standard edge thickness for plus power over Diopter +2.50 is 0.5mm.
3.1.2 Always order your plus power lens 3mm diameter bigger than your actually need as during the hard-coating process, the edge of the thin lens may be cracked to 3mm maximum.
3.2 Knife-Cut Edge
 
3.2.1 Upon the request of the customer on the edge of the lens is in 0.3mm and the minimum center thickness is 2.5mm (This service can only be applied to lens power over Diopter +2.50).
3.3 Axis System
 
3.3.1 Our lab applies International Axis system, (From three o’clock to nine o’clock anti-clockwise).
3.4 Prism
 
3.4.1 Base direction is always measured by anti-clockwise from three o’clock.
3.4.2 Nasal direction is always counted as IN and temporal direction is always counted as OUT.
3.5 Power Range
 
3.5.1 Please always refer to our updated power range information which is clearly noted in our website.
3.6 Produce lens according to frame shape
 
3.6.1 According to the drawing, we shall make 3mm bigger, because of the hard-coating process as mentioned on point 2.11.
3.6.2 The PD (Pupil Distance) of left / right eyes have to be marked on the order carefully,
especially for the bifocal and progressive lenses.
3.6.3 Along with the attached drawing, size of the frame has to be informed in detail
including information of length, height and the longest diagonal length and the bridge size of the frame.
3.6.4 Another way to produce the thin lens is by giving us data of the frame using the
boxing system calculation, so the customer do not have to provide us the drawing of the frame shape but still can achieve the thinnest edged lens.
3.6.5 With the boxing system calculation, customer has to provide the information A, B, DBL, Client PD and Fitting Height.
3.6.6 Type of the frame has to be clearly informed. For example Nylon on plastic frame or Nylon on metal frame, rimless or rim frame, otherwise minimum edge thickness has to be advised in the order
3.7 Special Request
 
3.7.1 Upon customer special request, you may request special diameter and special thickness on center thickness or edge thickness.
3.7.2 For plus power, kindly note that the diameter will affect the supply power range.

3.8 Base curve
 
3.8.1 Special request on base curve can be arranged. Please check with our customer service

3.9 Progressive lenses
 
3.9.1 Different progressive lenses have different centering cross marking, please refer to relative centration chart or stamp printing.
3.9.2 Conventional Office progressive lenses, customer has to provide the reading power for production.
3.9.3 High Definition i-Office, i-Reader and i-Room ALWAYS order as progressive lens power.
3.10 Scratches
 
3.10.1 See below point 3 for Scratch Criteria Table
3.11 Hard-coating
 
3.11.1 All Rx lenses are automatically with scratch-resistant coating.
3.11.2 Our lab applies dipping method, all lenses should allow maximum 3mm for “tear marks”
3.11.3 Pay attention when ordering the form-cut shape lenses, order at least 3mm bigger than you need to avoid tear mark.
3.11.4 Non-tintable hard-coating solution is applied to all RX lenses.
3.12 Tinting / Photochromic / Transitions
 
3.12.1 Always check the tinting colour under the white fluorescent lamp and on the white paper.
3.12.2 Choose your request colour from the SWISSCOAT colour for your face catalogue or samples set.
3.12.3 CR39 and 1.56 lenses can be tint upto 90%;
3.12.4 1.61 and 1.67 lenses can be tinted up to 75%.
3.12.5 1.74 index lenses can be tint upto 85%
3.12.6 Colour tinted lenses after AR coating will become lighter. Especially for Grey, Purple and Blue colour.
3.12.7 1.67 Bifocal is not available for colour tinting
3.12.8 Polarized / Transitions / Photochromatic / Colour tinted lens are advised to order ALWAYS by pair.
3.13 Anti-Reflection coating (A.R coating)
 
3.13.1 One year A.R coating guarantee
3.13.2 Colour and type of A.R coating have to be mentioned clearly in the order form
3.14 Edge instruction for SupremeCoat lens
 
3.14.1 Edging with anti-slipper sticker
Index 1.498 and 1.56
- Use the provided transparent anti-slippery stick on both side
Index 1.6
- First cut:
Convex Surface – 1st step use provided blue tape sticker,
 

2nd step use provide transparent anti-slipper sticker

Process – 1st Increase the diameter on lens size in 6mm
 

2nd Deblock the lens after first cut

  3rd Replace the new transparent anti-slipper on both side
- Second cut:
Convex Surface – 1st step use transparent anti-slippery sticker
Process – 1st Block the lens by holding with a plano lens on locking machine
 

2nd Edge down to precise lens shape

Other index same as Index 1.6 process, but in case the edge is thicker than 6mm then Bevel the edge thickness to 1/3 (not more than 2.5mm inner from the edge)
3.14.2 Edging with anti-slippery layer
Handling before edging:
- Do not clean the lens with neither water nor alcohol.
- Mark the lens as handling normal anti-reflective coated lens.
- Block the lens using normal edging sticker and holder

- Clean the lens and remove the anti-slippery layer by water on alcohol
Note: All SWISSCOAT SupremeCoat products (RX and stock lens) must strictly follow the above Edging Instruction.
3.15 UV coating
 
3.15.1 Index of 1.56; 1.61; 1.67 and 1.74 lenses are automatically with UV protection
3.15.2 Lenses will be a little bite more yellowish after UV coating on CR39 lenses
3.15.3 Blue colour tinted lenses with AR coating cannot order with UV coating on CR39 and 1.56 index material
3.15.4 There is no need to add extra UV coating to Photochromic / Transitions / Polarized lenses.
3.16 Order form
 
3.16.1 ONLY and ALWAYS order prescription lenses through ON-LINE ORDERING SYSTEM to avoid any language misunderstanding.
3.16.2 Each order have to come with customer own reference number. This could help to check if we miss any order or receive double order

3.17 General Information
 
3.17.1 If the customer send raw material, frame or lenses for service, we shall not be responsible for any defects and risk of loss.
3.17.2 All RX shipment will be insured by customers themselves.
3.17.3 All the returned lenses shipment will be insured by customers themselves.
3.17.4 Any loss, delay or damage cause by the courier, will not be responsible to Swiss Lens Laboratory (HK) Ltd.
